Java for beginners

Are you curious about programming but don't know where to start? Do you like meeting new people, enjoying nature and learning new things?  Then you've come to the right place!

Pink Programming is organizing our popular Java course for beginners. We will return to the beautiful apple farm in Kivik for a five day intensive course in Java where, teacher-led lessons will be combined with hands on programming tasks - all to give us the best possible programming start.

For those who like to stretch their bodies and relax their minds to get ready for the tasks, we will offer yoga classes every day. You also have the opportunity to go running  along the coast or walking in the national park, 'Stenshuvud', between the sessions. During the evenings we will cook delicious vegetarian meals and eat together and have time to relax after all new and exciting knowledge.

You as a woman or transperson, are welcome regardless of age and background. The only requirements are that you are new to Java programming, want to learn and have access to your own computer.

About the course:

The course gives an introduction to programming and the programming language Java and is the perfect start even for those who never programmed before. The main focus of the course is to get training in solving problems with help of the computer. We will do that in Java by constructing our own algorithms and introduce object-oriented concepts, such as classes, methods and objects.

Expected learning outcomes:

After the course the attendant should have got:

    • A general understanding of programming as an important part of the society, how a computer program executes on the computer and how algorithms can be used to solve real world problems.
    • Training in constructing algorithms in Java using loops, variables, conditions and basic built-in functions.
    • Training in how to use simple textual input and output to make the computer program communicate with the user.
    • Knowledge of the basic concepts of object-oriented programming such as classes, objects and methods.
